Honor your special horse with our
hand made pottery. Your pot will
feature a fascinating random
pattern exclusively designed using
the hair of your own horse. Each
pot is signed by the artist and
individualized with your horses
name.
The process we use in making our horsehair pottery is  as follows:

  • All our pots are either wheel thrown or hand built.

  • Once dried each piece can be hand burnished to achieve a satin finish.

  • Pots are then kiln fired to the desired temperature. They are pulled from the Hot Kiln and your
horsehair is applied to the surface. The horsehair will carbonize into a wonderful random pattern.
There are short windows of opportunity to apply the horsehair to achieve the desired effect.

  • Once pots are cooled they are sealed and buffed. Each pot is a one of a kind and can never be
    repeated.

  • All horsehair and raqu pots are for ornamental purposes only. They are not food safe and are not
meant to hold liquids. To preserve your exclusive piece of pottery simply wipe it down with a clean
damp cloth. Occasionally you can apply a thin coat of wood floor paste wax.
